What is the meaning and main idea of LMFAO's Sexy and I Know It song? What message does it try convey? If you want to find the answer, continue reading this article to the end.

First Thing First
The title of the song "Sexy and I Know It" literally has ambiguous meaning. At least two meanings can be drawned. The first, the man (the singer) seems to see a woman as a sexy creature. Moreover, this title depicts that the woman often shows off in front of him. She tries to show him and the world that she is sexy. Responding to this, the man just says either loudly or at heart that he has known the fact that she is sexy.

The second possible meaning from the title is that the man realizes that he himself is sexy. This awareness makes him confident or even arrogant. It's true if there is a friend of yours who compliments you and you respond to the compliment by saying "I know it" people will judge you either confident or arrogant depending on your daily attitude. If in everyday life you are kind to your friends, then your response just reflects cinfidence. However, if in everyday life you never care of other people, the statement surely reflects your arrogance.

Based on the whole lyric lines, it is known that it is the second possible meaning which is more rellevant. And because we don't know how is the singer in his everyday life, let's assume that the statement reflects his confidence.

Sexy and I Know It - LMFAO

When I walk on by, girls be looking like damn he fly
I pay to the beat, walking on the street with in my new lafreak, yeah
This is how I roll, animal print, pants out control,
It's RedFoo with the big ass fro
And like Bruce Leroy I got the glow

When I walk in the spot, this is what I see
Everybody stops and they staring at me
I got passion in my pants and I ain't afraid to show it

I'm sexy and I know it (x2)

When I'm at the mall, security just can't fight them all
When I'm at the beach, I'm in a speedo trying to tan my cheeks
This is how I roll, come on ladies it's time to go
We hit it to the bar, baby don't be nervous
No shoes, no shirt, and I still get serviced

( ahh ) Girl look at that body (x3)
I work out
( ahh ) Girl look at that body (x3)
I work out

When I walk in the spot, this is what I see
Everybody stops and they staring at me
I got passion in my pants and I ain't afraid to show it

I'm sexy and I know it (x2)

Lyric Lines Illustrated
Every verse of the song is opened with the adverbial clause "when I". In the first verse, it is opened with "when I walk on by." The next verse is opened with "When I walk in the spot." And the verse after the first chorus is opened with "When I am at the mall." All of those opening clauses are followed by the independent clauses emphasizing how people adore him. "girls be looking like damn he fly", "Everybody stops and they staring at men", "Security just can't fight them all" follow each of those opening clause respectively. The meaning of each of this independent clause is denotative in nature and hence it is clear. Based on those opening sentence, it is clear that everywhere he goes, there are always people who adore him. In the street, in the bar, and in the mall, people always look at him adorably. Responding to people reaction such as this, he just says "I'm sexy and I know it" which means that he knows why people adore him that is because he is sexy. Relating to this, I don't think that the word "sexy" here is used denotatively. I think they meaning of this word is connotative. You know sexy does not only refers to physical appearance. It may also refer to skill, creativity, uniqueness, and smartness. I believe, it is impossible that people adore one person because of his physical appearance. It is more possible that they adore him because of his smartness in one or another area. In this case, he may be a hip hop star who is of course brilliant in composing hip hop song.

Well, that is my interpretation of LMFAO's Sexy and I Know It song. What do you say? Your comments are highly appreaciated.
