Titanium - David Guetta feat. Sia

(Sung by Sia)

You shout it out
But I can't hear a word you say
I'm talking loud, not saying much
I'm criticized
But all your bullets ricochet
You shoot me down
But I get up

CHORUS:
I'm bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away[x2]
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away[x2]

[x2]
You shoot me down
But I won't fall
I am titanium

Cut me down
But it's you who have further to fall
Ghost town and haunted love
Raise your voice, sticks and stones may break my bones
I'm talking loud, not saying much

CHORUS

I am titanium[x2]

Stone-hard, machine gun
Firing at the ones who run
Stone-hard, those bulletproof glass

[x4]
You shoot me down
But I won't fall
I am titanium

I am titanium

Meaning, Main Idea, and Message of The Song

Before discussing the song, let me first tell you that all the lyric lines of this song are connotative in nature. Hence, we will never be able to find the meaning if we realy only on the lexical and grammatical meaning of the words. It follows, then, that my interpretation of the song is relative and not one hundred percent true.

Well, here we go...
Based on the complete lyric of the song, I conclude that this song tells us about one's persistence and resilience in dealing with unfriendly surroundings. As one friend of mine said, "this life is hard, to beat it." Yes, it's true that this life is rough. This life seems to be unfair. There seems to be only so few people who join our happiness when we achievement success. All the rest seems to be happy to see us failing. This later type of people will try hard to make us down. For them, everything we do is wrong.

Unfortunately, such kind of people are everywhere. So we have to be ready to meet and be confronted with them. In order to defeat them, there is no other way but to be resilient and persistent. Be a titanium. And among many ways to achieve that attitude and personality, one which is easy to do is to ignore everything they do and say. So, in this case being blind and deaf to whatever people say and do to us is needed.

Well, that's my interpretation of David Guetta feat. Sia's Titanium song. Feel free to leave comments.

  7. it’s about how he’s been bullied and put down so he had enough. He looks like he let out so much anger that it created his supernatural powers to come running to him. He then freaks out the school and tries to find somewhere he can be safe and himself without being judged. The first place anyone would think of is home. But when he sees the news report he realises he’s in even more trouble because the human race does not like anything different, we are scared of it and so send in the army and whatever. He then realises he is on his own but will be bulletproof & unharmed by the bullies/army/ the people who are scared of the unexplainable. He runs away but remains unharmed because his supernatural powers saved him. I think overall it says that humans are scared of difference and that if that difference causes someone trouble, someday they will overcome it and become better then everyone.

    1. I think it was about benign bullied and the way you are seen. the boy is runing away because he is not understood and the thought of being hated and feared by all is to much. So my question is why are we getting judged on what we look like and what we can do instead of who we are.

  9. It could be taken as someone who is being verbally abused and is saying that no matter what you say, it can't hurt me anymore.

  10. i think this song is about a boy who is very troubled and he learns that he has to use his own strength to beat his demons (society, classmates, authority, etc..) he tries to go along with what other people want or expect of him but it doesnt really mean enough to him to keep up the charade and then he tries to run from his problems and use outside sources to manipulate his situation, which confuses him and makes him even more frustrated. in the end he realizes that he cannot count on anybody or anything except for himself and no matter how different he is from the multitudes he cannot conform or run anymore he has to face life head on and keep on fighting. at the end of the day his personal strengths prove to be stronger than the opposing and he beats the odds and finds out what its like to be truly content with himself....

    1. It's stronger than iron and steel, and is lighter weight. It is corrosion resistant and in less supply in earth's environment making steel more abundant and cheaper for making armored combat vehicles and level III steel plate armor.

  13. I think this song is about a girl who has quitted with her boyfriend and now he tries to fix her. He tries to shot her down. Therefor the lines "You shout it out / But I can´t hear a word your say" mean that he´s shouting to her things about how she will never make anything right, but she just don´t listen to him bc she doesn´t care about him anymore. There was a time when his words brang her down, but this times are over. You shoot me down but i won´t fall --> He may be hard to her, bullys, judges, critizises, but he won´t hurt her, shes "bulletproof". Firing at the one who run --> He´s firing = tries to fix her at the one who run --> at her because she ran away from their relationship

    1. Exactly. I didn't see the video; however, I assumed it was about a couple from seeing and hearing the lyrics. Thanks for writing your opinion. I couldn't help but think something was wrong with me for not interpreting it like everyone else.

  15. I do feel the same. That this song is about being strong. When surrounds are against us in terms of both bullying and bring us down to the point that we are really tired and we just kinda give up. It's almost as if in depression.

  16. i think in a spiritual sense its about the enemy trying to pull us down and god made us strong like titanium so we sing fire away fire away as we are bullet proof as god sheilds us against anything bad that comes our way. x

  17. I believe that the lyrics to the song titanium tell us that, when we face a disaster or crisis in life we have to act like someone we are not even though we are faced with different surroundings.
