We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together - Taylor Swift

I remember when we broke up the first time
Saying this is it, I've had enough, it's like
We haven't seen each other in a month
When you, said you, needed space, what?
When you come around again and say
Baby, I miss you and I swear I'm gonna change
Trust me, remember how that lasted for a day
I say, I hate you, we break up, you call me, I love you

CHORUS
Oooh you called me up again tonight
But Oooh, this time I'm telling you, I'm telling you
We are never ever ever ever getting back together
We are never ever ever ever getting back together
You go talk to your friends talk
And my friends talk to me
But we are never ever ever ever getting back together

Like ever...

I'm really gonna miss you picking fights
And me, falling for a screaming that I'm right
And you, will hide away and find your piece of mine
with some indie record that's much cooler than mine

CHORUS

I used to think, that we, were forever ever ever
And I used to say never say never
Huh, he calls me up and he's like, I still love you
And i'm like, I mean, I mean this is exhausting, you know
We are never getting back together, like ever

We are never ever ever ever getting back together
We are never ever ever ever getting back together
You go talk to your friends talk
And my friends talk to me
But we are never ever ever ever getting back together

Not getting back together, we
Oh, getting back together

You go talk to your friends talk
And my friends talk to me
But we are never ever ever ever getting back

Meaning, Main Idea, and Message of The Song

Based on the complete lyric of the song above, it seems to me that this Taylor Swift's We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together tells us about the feeling of a girl who is tired of having relationship and breaking up again and again with one same boy. The first verse shows how they broke up for the first time. The breaking up is initiated by the boy. Just like any other boys out there, the reason for him to do so is that he needs a space. Well, you know it is cliche. It's not the real reason. I guess, the real reason is that he wants to be free to do anything, including to approach other girls.

Still based on the first verse, it's not long until the boy comes to see her and wants to be her lover again. Of course, like any other boys out there, he promises to change. But, just like you may guess, his promise is an empty word. He changes nothing. He is still like he used to be. So, the relationship cannot last long. The line "remember how that lasted for a day" emphasizes how short this second relationship lasts.

The chorus part shows how sick she is with him. Being cheated twice has made her sick of him so much. Her feeling is expressed with the line "We are never ever getting back together." So, even though she knows that she will miss the fight with him (verse three) and she used to think that the relationship could last forever (verse four), she will never give another chance for him to hurt her.

Well, that's my interpretation of Taylor Swift's We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together song. Your comments are highly appreciated.
